Biographical Note
Frederic Davis was born on October 27, 1915 in Seattle, Washington to Albert and Margaret Stauffer Davis. His family moved to Portland, Oregon during his early childhood. Davis graduated from Washington High School in 1933, and continued his education studying pre-medicine at University of Portland and University of Oregon. He graduated in 1941 from the University of Oregon Medical School. In 1942, Davis married Washington High School classmate Jean Managhan. During World War II, he served as a Battalion Surgeon in the 7th Infantry Division Air Defense Battalion. Davis returned to Portland, OR after the war and began a pathology residency at Emanuel Hospital. In 1949, Davis moved with his family (Jean and three daughters) east of the Cascades where he became a circuit-riding pathologist for the communities of Walla Walla, Dayton, Pasco, Pendleton, and La Grande.
In addition to practicing medicine, Davis had a passion for historic automobiles, as reflected in this collection. Davis and his wife Jean, a pilot, traveled around the West in her Cessna 182. Davis died on October 29, 2005 in Milwaukie, Oregon.
