Robert George Blair Papers, 1922-2007

Robert George Blair was born on December 6, 1936 and graduated from Dartmouth in 1958 and the University of Michigan in 1960 with degrees in Geology. From 1960-1989, he supervised or had oversight of work that was focused on gold, silver, lead, zinc, copper, and molybdenum exploration in Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Arizona, and the Mid continent region. From 1989-1999, he was Chief Geologist for Cyprus Minerals (later Cyprus Amax) in the Western United States. During this period he carried out or assisted on world-wide copper and gold project investigations in many active mining countries throughout the world, except India and Russia. Since 1999, Blair has had a full time consulting practice for major and junior companies that has taken him to or resulted in studies in many mining areas of the world. This work has been primarily in the search for or development of gold, silver, copper, molybdenum, and lead plus zinc deposits. Blairs emphasis has been on the western United States, Canada, Mexico, South American countries, Central and Eastern Europe, and in Western Asia.
