Historical Note
William J. Steinhoff was the grandson of William J. “Billy” Rowe who was a prominent Weld County rancher and State Brand Inspector. According to Steinhoff, the brand book in his collection was one of the first brand books published by the Colorado Cattle Growers Association and was first given to Charles Camp by Tom Horn on the day he was hanged. Charles Camp then gave it to William J. Rowe.
