Historical Note

Postal Outliers was the first known exhibition dedicated to mail art in Idaho. It was on display in Boise State's student union building from January-February 2021. The exhibiton included works collected in response to a call for art as well as a curated selection from artist Debra Mulnick and selections from the Tom Trusky papers in Special Collections and Archives.

Paper + Post was an international Mailart exhibition at Boise State's Student Union building in May 2023. Boise residents Debra Mulnick and Lorelle Rau issued an open call for collage-themed mail art asking artists to respond to life during the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting on the question, "How has living with the pandemic for the past three years changed your life?" The curators received more than 350 pieces of artwork from 26 countries and 33 states in the U.S. The exhibit was held in conjunction with World Collage Day (May 13).

All artworks received were included in the exhibitions and were then donated to Boise State's Special Collections and Archives.
