Whitman College Phi Delta Theta records, 1913-2003

Phi Delta Theta is an international social fraternity founded at Miami University in Oxford Ohio in 1848. In 1915, Phi Delta Theta became the first fraternity officially sanctioned by Whitman. The chapter, known as Washington Beta, was chartered from a local social group known as the Illahee Club, which was established in 1909. Phi Delta Theta was the first member of the "Miami Triad" at Whitman (the other two; Beta Theta Pi and Sigma Chi, also have chapters on campus). Phi Delta Theta was temporarily disbanded multiple times in its long history at Whitman, but has managed to remain a presence on campus, due to a strong alumni network and student revivals.
