Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Rauw family history in Idaho can be traced back to the late 1800s. This collection holds just a small portion of Ed's ancestor. The families most mentioned are the Thiessen and Stockslager families. Ed's mother's cousin, George Thiessen, fought during World War Two and was an artillery officer. He experienced D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. His younger brother, Sidney Thieseen, also served during the war, but was killed during the Battle of the Bulge. George's family actually settled in the Lewiston area in the 1870s. The Thiessen family owned and operated his own heating oil business which was located there. Another relative of Ed's was C. O. Stockslager, a former justice of the Supreme Court of Idaho.
