Biographical Note
John Joseph “Jack” Shawcroft was born to Ada Palmer Shawcroft and John Shawcroft on February 14, 1914, in Vancouver, Canada. His family came to the United States in 1916, settling in Aberdeen, Washington where he graduated with honors from Weatherwax High School in 1931. He later served for three and a half years in the United States Army during World War II. Shawcroft married Lillian Margaret Gregory at Emmanuel Church on Mercer Island, Washington, on June 27, 1942, a marriage which produced four children.
While working at KRSC-TV, (later KING-TV) cameramen John Shawcroft was part an engineering team which made television history with the first TV broadcast in the Puget Sound, capturing the 1948 Thanksgiving Day state football championship between West Seattle and Wenatchee at Seattle’s Civic Field. Shawcroft passed away on March 1, 1994 in Seattle, Washington at the age of 80.

Totem Broadcasters Yearbook, 1927-1928 transferred to book collection.
Booklet belonged to Lillian Shawcroft's mother, Caroline Gregory. Includes October 22, 1927 correspondence to Caroline Gregory in response to a letter she wrote to KOMO and a card from Dorothy Denee Snowden, who directed and acted as "Queen of Storyland" in KOMO's children's radio program "The Royal Court of Storyland." The booklet contains a brief history of radio broadcasting in he Puget Sound area, includig photos of key figures in radio's begining in the area. Contains photos and brief bios of radio staff, actors, musical acts, and announcers. Booklet includes station listings, including handwritten station dial locations.
