Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Paul Edward Rietzke (1922-1999) was born in Smith Center, KS. Following his CCC work, he joined the Navy, was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor attack, and served in WW2.

Content DescriptionReturn to Top

Twenty black and white photographs of Civilian Conservation Corps camps and their projects in Idaho, where Paul Rietzke worked. Named locations seem to revolve around two regions: Gardena and the Payette River (likely camp S-237); and Sage Hen Lake, Timber Point, Garden Valley, Ola, and the road to McCall (possibly camp F-62 or F-95). No dates are given, based on Paul's age (you needed to be 18 to join the CCC; Paul turned 18 in spring 1940), and the fact the he was at Pearl Harbor, these are almost certainly within 1940-1941.
