Historical Note
Gold Fields of South Africa Limited was formed in 1887 by Cecil Rhodes and Charles Rudd. It was incorporated in 1932 as West Witwatersrand Areas Ltd. West Wits eventually acquired the Gold Fields of South Africa name and assets in 1971. In 1998, Gold Fields of South Africa Limited and Gencor merged to create Gold Fields Ltd.

Collection contains books on the history of South African gold; bulletins on aspects of gold mine engineering, economics, and management; charts on the “Gold Fields Group”; miscellaneous mining industry pamphlets; and reprints of articles by H. E. Cross.
