Biographical Note

Joseph Rychetnik (January 15, 1927--March 5, 2003) was an author, photojournalist, humorist, hunter, fisherman, and a Marine. When the Alaska statehood was declared he was one of the first to become an Alaska State Trooper. He was the author of three books: "Bush Cop," "Alaska's Funniest Flyers," and "On Guns, Hunting and Days Gone By." He was the son of an immigrant banker from Bohemia in Chicago and left home in his teens to join the Merchant Marines in the Pacific. He served on a ship during World War II and in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat aerial photographer in the Korean War.
