Biographical Note
Necdet Yaşar (1930-2017) was a tanbur lute player and teacher from Nizip, Turkey. In 1972, he was appointed as a visiting artist at the University of Washington, USA. In 1988, he became a founding member of the Istanbul State Turkish Music Ensemble, which he directed until he retired in 1995. The Turkish government awarded him the title of "National Artist" in 1991.

University of Washington School of Music technician recorded (equipment unknown) on tape #6859; tape stored in Music Library Listening Center (.Y373/1973/2-8) until 6/17/85 when librarian John Gibbs gave it to the Ethnomusicology Archives.
