Frank R. LaRiviere Seattle Youth Sports films and papers, approximately 1949-2017

Frank Richard LaRiviere was born on June 18, 1927 in Portland, Oregon and died August 14, 2020 in Seattle, Washington.

Frank was raised in Long Beach and Oakland, California before the family settled in Seattle. During WWII, while in high school, he started coaching youth sports in Seattle. He graduated from Seattle Prep in 1946, enlisted in the Army and served in Korea. Upon his return from the service, Frank attended Seattle University. He worked as a US mail carrier and continued coaching youth sports. He retired at age 56 wanting to dedicate more time to others and to pursue his various hobbies.

Frank had a passion for coaching Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) sports and served on the Seattle Archdiocese CYO Board for many years. He coached CYO basketball, baseball, and soccer. He started coaching at 15 years old, not stopping for 44 years, until the 1986 closure of Blessed Sacrament School. He coached a state championship CYO basketball team in 1960, and took a 1969 Babe Ruth League baseball team from Seattle to the World Series in Mattoon, IL. In honor of his many years of unpaid coaching the Blessed Sacrament community sent Frank to the 1966 Soccer World Cup matches in England.
