Historical Note

The Booklore Club was a local Logan, Utah, ladies' book club founded on October 24, 1934, in the home of Mrs. Blanche Woodland. Charter members of the organization included Blanche Woodland, Karma Weston, Thelma Frank, Fern Wood, Helen Hickman, and Majorie Blood. The club's constitution, approved in December of 1934, established regular meetings on the first and third Wednesday of every month, September through May or April. Officers of the club were selected yearly. Members were appointed to committees to organize the annual events of Guest Day, Easter Breakfast, the Sweetheart Party and the Summer Party. A business meeting was held every August to establish the program and assignments for the following year.

Content Description

This collection contains the scrapbooks, meeting minutes, annual programs, and histories of the Booklore Club. It is categorized by document type and arranged chronologically.

These divisions, which are labeled by academic year, sometimes overlapped between scrapbooks. In these cases, the division from each scrapbook was placed in a separate folder to indicate they came from separate binders. While the collection also contains sections for meeting minutes and programs, the researcher should be aware that some of these document types are also found in the scrapbooks where the original creator placed them.

The original collection was expanded in 2016 to include recently acquired material. The initial 2004 donation can be found in Box 5, folders 1 to 13.
