Biographical Note
Dr. James Michael "Mike" Olivero was born on December 23rd, 1954 in Bloomington, Illinois and graduated from Burlingame High School. He then attended San Mateo junior college and San Francisco State University. He received a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University in 1983. He then attended Southern Illinois University and received a Ph.D. in Sociology with a focus in criminology in record time. Olivero came to Central Washington University in 1991 as a faculty member in the Criminal Justice Department that was later renamed the Law and Justice Department. He published numerous articles and served as an expert consultant in mental health related issues. He became a full professor during his tenure at CWU and remained there until his death in July 2018.
Content Description
The collection is comprised of awards, correspondent, curriculum vitas, teaching materials, publications, and lecture notes created by Dr. J. Michael Olivero, professor in the CWU Law Justice Department. Dr. Olivero served in this role from 1991 until his death in 2018. The collection also contains materials of Dr. Olivero’s work prior to his coming to Central Washington University.
