Nancy Rushforth is a professor at Utah Valley University. For more than two decades her research focused on the 19th century author and illustrator Mary Hallock Foote. Rushforth's research collection includes books, correspondence, and writings on Foote as well as on Helena de Kay Gilder and Wallace Stegner.

Biographical Note

Nancy Rushforth is a professor of humanities and itegrated studies at Utah Valley University. The 19th century author and illustrator Mary Hallock Foote was a focus of Rushforth's research beginning with her 1993 thesis "With Her Own Hand: The Correspondence of Mary Hallock Foote." She wrote a play by the same name in 2010 and received the College of Humanities and Social Science Dean's Award for Excellence for Creative Work in 2013.

The Nancy Rushforth collection on Mary Hallock Foote consists of Rushforth's research materials and writings on Foote. Materials include copies of Foote's correspondence dating from the late 1800's, reproduced from archival collections at other institutions.

Donated by Nancy Rushforth in 2019.

Separated Materials

Duplicate copies of books already available at Albertsons Library were removed from the collection and donated if they were unnanotated by Rushforth. Please contact Special Collections and Archives staff for a complete list. A DVD documentary about Wallace Stegner (KUED University of Utah,2009) was also separated and catalogued, and is available at Albertsons Library.
