Historical Note
The Centennial Writing Contest was a competition sponsored by the public schools of Madison County, Montana, to encourage student research in the history of the county. Among the judges in the contest were Naomi Lane Babson, Dale White, and A. B. Guthrie. The papers were submitted anonymously, with judges submitting their choice based on entry numbers. The topics ranged from biography to community history, with many based on personal interviews conducted by the authors.

The papers in this collection have been arranged alphabetically by the author's name. In addition to the author name inventory, this finding aid contains a title index to the papers, along with a listing of the original accession numbers.
