Historical Note
Carré was born in France and came to the United States in 1912. He worked as an art director for the motion picture industry until the 1960s, including the motion pictures "Riders of the Purple Sage" and "The Iron Mask."

Collection contains the 430 page manuscript of Carré's autobiography "Reminiscences of My Years as a Motion Picture Art Director," written around 1968, which describes his work in the motion picture industry and his early life in France.
