Additonally the collection includes the records of Idaho Theater for Youth, an independant organization until merging with ISF in 1999.

Historical Note

1977: Idaho Shakespeare Festival founded as Main Street Bistro Summer Theater Festival. Inaugural season featured A Midsummer Night's Dream

1979: The name 'Idaho Shakespeare Festival' becomes official

1981: Move from One Capital Center/9th Street Bistro to the Plantation site

1983: ISF founder Doug Copsey transitions to Artistic Director Emeritus and member of the Board

1983: Mark Cuddy hired as Artistic Director

1984: Demolition of the Plantation site and construction of the Parkcenter site

1991: Charles Fee hired as Artistic Director

1992: Mark Hofflund hired as Managing Director

1992: ISF joins Actors' Equity Association, the professional union for actors and stage managers

1997: Kevin Kline becomes honorary board chair of ISF and hosts a fundraiser for the construction of the Amphitheater

1998: Inagural season of Idaho Shakespeare Festival Amphitheater and Reserve

1999: Idaho Theater for Youth merges with ISF

1999: A Midsummer Night's Dream film premier at the Egyptian Theater in Boise, Idaho with Calista Flockhart and director Michael Hoffman (and ISF founding company member)

2001: Amphitheater construction complete

2001: ISF is awarded the Excellence in the Arts Award by Governor Dirk Kempthorne
