Historical Note
Betty Lou Sine Stewart learned to ski on primitive equipment at the of 6 and began racing at the age of 8. From 1948 to the early 1960s, Stewart skied from Vermont to the West Coast and rarely lost in the giant slalom event. She was a member of the ski club at East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah and later a co-captain for the University of Utah ski team. Stewart was on the verge of making a run for the Winter Olympics, but decided to retire from ski racing.
Stewart was married to David Michael Stewart. The couple had 7 children.

Content Description
The Betty Lou Sine Stewart scrapbook [printouts] spans from 1950-1962. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, photographs, programs, and a few letters related to Stewart and early Utah women skiers. Included in the album is Stewart and her brother, Wesley, on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 1957. Materials including East High School commencement program from 1955 and Stewart's progress reports can also be found in the album. The scrapbook is 304 pages.
The computer printouts were created in 2025.
