Historical Note

The Graduate School of Social Work was established as a one year program in 1937. In 1949 a two year Masters of Social Work Program was adopted. During the period this collection covers, the Graduate School adopted a Doctoral program. It also started other programs such as the Social Research Institue.

Content Description

The bulk of the collection consists of administrative records from the administrations of Eunice O. Shatz (1980-1988), Kay Dea (1988-1999) and Acting Associate Dean Lou Ann Jorgensen (1986-1987). These records are mainly comprised of correspondence, meeting mintues, and reports from the Dean's Office of the Graduate School of Social work. This mainly consists of the various administrative duties of the Dean's Office. Also included is correspondence and memorada concerning the Graduate School of Social as it pertained to State of Utah and National Social Work conferences and programs. 0.5 Linear Feet of the collection is devoted to the Fordham Grant Program in conection to Rose Park Elementary School. This was a grant given by Fordham University to the University of Utah to fund graduate students to conduct their practicum at Rose Park Elementary School. The Oversized box is the Self-Study the Graduate School of Social Work submitted for the renewel of accreditation in 1987.
