Historical Note
Ardito Desio (1897-2001) was a professor of geology at the Geological Institute of the State University of Milan, Italy. He also worked in the field of geography and cartography. Desio was known for his explorations in Europe, Africa, Asia, and Antarctica of regions including the Alps, the Libyan Desert, and Karakoram.
