John Messineo was a photographer and writer in Fort Collins, Colorado. He grew up in Long Island, New York and came to Colorado State University to study agricultural journalism, receiving his bachelor’s degree in 1971. In college he met his wife, Barb Field. After college he ran the University’s Photographic Services Department, was a stringer for Newsweek, and freelanced photos and articles to magazines for forty years. Messineo’s photos and articles appear in a large number of publications including American Trapper, Successful Farming, Western Horseman, and Backpacking Journal.
