Historical Note
H. Paul Schubert (1899-1980) was a radio journalist and commentator, who helped shaped Americans' understanding of the events of World War II. Schubert graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy but resigned in 1924 to write. He lived in Austria and Czechoslovakia for eight years and wrote naval histories of World War I. At the beginning of World War II he returned to the United States and began broadcasting 15 minute commentary on world events on WOR every evening. In 1951 Schubert moved to Shell, Wyoming. He continued to travel and to write and publish books and magazine articles.
