Historical Note

Floyd O'Neil was born on 14 July 1927, and spent his childhood in the Uintah Basin. He attended Carbon College before moving on to the University of Utah, where he was awarded a B.S. in History in 1957 and a Ph.D in History in 1973. He served as director of the American West Center from 1986 to 1996, and is currently Director Emeritus of that organization.

Content Description

The Floyd A. and Shauna O'Neil poster collection (1895-2016) consists of approximately 1,455 posters collected by the O'Neils. The posters range from arts and culture to tourism in the United States and around the world. Approximately 25 the posters are signed by the artist. The oldest poster found in the collection is the Along the Line - K&S Railroad in 1895 and the most recent poster is from the University of Utah ArtsForce Career Services Workshops in 2016.
