Content Description

The Orris Lee Hamilton Papers range from 1953 to 1978, with the majority dating from the period 1969 to 1976. In general, these papers contain materials received by Justice Hamilton and retained by him for reference and information.

The papers have been arranged into four series: Judicial Conferences, Court Rules, National Center for State Courts, and Committees.

Judicial conferences, by far the largest series, contains three kinds of material: the proceedings of the conference, correspondence and other papers related directly to the conferences, and booklets, drafts, and reports evidently collected at conferences but not related directly to them. The Court Rules series contains rulings, drafts, and other papers pertaining to courtroom procedure. The National Center for State Courts series contains literature and proposals from the Center. The Committees series, subdivided by specific committees, is made up of reports, correspondence, and other papers.
