Biographical Note

Mary Worth Bone was the wife of Scott C. Bone, editor of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer and governor of Alaska Territory from 1920-1925, where his action ordering a relay of dog teams to bring vaccines for a diptheria epidemic in Nome inspired the annual Iditarod race.
