Ora Johnson was born July 27, 1879 in St. Charles, Montgomery County, Missouri. Ora's parents, Lucinda [Reed] and William Henry Harrison Johnson, moved from Illinois to Missouri around 1870, bringing their three children. Ora and two more siblings were born in Missouri. Ora married Hayden Emmett Roper (known as Emmett) in 1898. Ora died on December 28, 1944 in Bremerton, Washington.
Ora's oldest sister Lillie (1862-1953) married Water Raleigh Overstreet in 1883, and they had four children, all born in Missouri: Calpernia Lee, Clay W., Paul Bernard, and Leola. Lillie divorced Overstreet between 1900 and 1903 and married Charles Gavener Duffy in 1904. Ora's oldest brother Antrum William (1864-1950) married Leola Delventhal in 1895 and they had three children: Ralph, Newell Vincent, and Helen Patience. Ora's brother Charles (1867-1943) married Laura E. Hartley in 1897 and they had eight children: William F., Leola V. (called Valrie); Nell Mattie; Hellen C., Minnie P., Wilbur Eugene (Gene); Charles; and Lloyd. Charles moved with his family to Waverly, Washington, where they bought a small farm. Ora's brother Harold (1876-1950) married Alven (Vena) Schramm in 1903. They had twelve children. Two of them died before 1910 and the remaining ten children were Norbert Leonard; Loraine L.; Dortha Mary; Orville J.; Lenard R.; Glennen; Carl Edward; Harold John; Alfred Edward; and Gertrude.
