Historical Note

William Stewart Ingham graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1898. In 1905 he was appointed to the position of librarian at the Carnegie Public Library, Laramie, Wyoming. He was also a member, and frequently secretary, of the Laramie Literary Club, a men’s organization modeled on the Young Men’s Literary Club of Cheyenne. He was a member of the University of Wyoming Board of Trustees from 1911 to 1920 and a member of the Wyoming State Library Association in 1915.

Content Description

The collection contains correspondence and other material relating to the Carnegie Public Library, minutes of the Laramie Literary Club (1906-1916), minutes of the Laramie Commercial Club at the time it became the Laramie Chamber of Commerce, speeches and manuscripts of W.S. Ingham, notes and outlines of a series of lectures given by University of Wyoming President Clyde A. Duniway, correspondence regarding President Merica’s resignation from the university (1912), and miscellaneous material regarding Laramie and Wyoming.
