Content Description

Two (2) ledger books, possibly used by George Markle in Oregon-related enterprises, including a trial balance ledger for the Portland Mining Company, 1888-1891. Also includes two (2) street maps of Salem, Oregon, 1892; one (1) cabinet photograph of two children and a dog, from the New York Gallery, Portland; and copies of George Markle's bank book from the First National Bank of Portland.

Custodial History

Materials were found by the donor in a building formerly owned by the Markle family, in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. George Markle was a regional coal magnate and may have had enterprises in Oregon.
