Japanese Navy Ships in Seattle photograph collection, circa 1914

Fourteen photographs mounted on loose album pages depicting the Japanese cruisers Asama and Azuma in Seattle. The photographs may date from a goodwill visit of the Japanese Navy to Seattle in July 1914, or from a later visit of both ships in 1919. The photographs also depict an unidentified Japanese ocean steamer and the motor boat Imp . People depicted include a group of Japanese children on deck of a ship, an officer identified as "K. Yasamoto," and Japanese naval cadets landing at a dock. Also includes a view towards the Seattle waterfront from the water, including the newly constructed Smith Tower.
