David M. Walden photograph collection, 1965-1990

The David M. Walden photograph collection contains photographs collected by David M. Walden in the course of his research. Material consists primarily of copy prints and copy negatives with no indication where the originals are held. Many of the photographs and negatives were reproduced from original plates by Heritage Prints, proprietor Rell G. Francis, in the late 1980s. The collection includes portraits of figures from Utah's medical history, including: Dr. Karl Hawkins, Sr., chiropractor; Samirta Bassett Wood, midwife; Sarah Adelia Wright Wing, midwife; Polly Block, midwife from American Fork, Utah; Nancy Ballinger Hall; Dr. Frederick Dunn. The collection contains copies of images of Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, its facilities, administrators, and employees, and photocopies of newspaper articles about he hospital. Additional organizations depicted include: Springville Instacare IHC and Mountain View Professional Plaza.

The collection also contains 46 black and white contact sheets, negatives, and prints and color photographs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Guam and Hawaii, including images of members, buildings, and missionaries. These images date primarily from 1977-1979 and are well identified with notes on the backs of the photographs and on photocopies annotated by Walden.
