Historical Note
Grayson E. Meade (1912-1995) was a geologist, paleontologist, and a consulting geologist. He obtained his Ph.D. in Geology from the University of Chicago and extensively explored oil geology in western Canada and the United States.
Content Description
The collection contains files, maps, and well logs relating to oil and gas development in western Canada and the United States, including consulting documents relating to seismograph surveys of Mobil Oil of Canada, LTD., as well as USGS quadrangle maps illustrating topographic features for counties in Nebraska, Kansas, and Wyoming. There are also cross-sectional maps, satellite images, cretaceous sand maps, legal land ownership designation maps, and geomorphic interpretation maps. Also present are comprehensive maps showing the geology and location of loess deposits for the entire continental United States. Further, there are numerous well logs for drilling operations in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Iowa, Montana, Wyoming, and Canada, as well as assorted newspaper articles relating to oil and gas development in the 1990s.
