Biographical Note
Prudence Penny was a newspaper "celebrity chef" for Hearst newspapers in the early to mid-20th century who offered recipes and cooking tips to her readers. In reality, Prudence Penny was a pseudonym for many different cooking instuctors, writers, and editors. There was no one Prudence Penny; rather, each Hearst newspaper employed one local writer to pen the column.
