Biographical Note

Joseph Stead Jacobson (1913-2012) was a professor for the University of Utah's Middle East Department speacializing in Turkish studies. Professor Jacobson spent the majority of his teaching career translating famous works of Turkish literature notably from the Turkish writer, Aziz Nesin.

Administrative Information

Arrangement

The arrangement of documents starts with documents pertaining to Jacobson's life and career. These documents are then preceded by documents regarding Aziz Nesin. The Aziz Nesin series begins with correspondence between Jacobson and Nesin and then followed by Nesin's translated writings. Nesin's writings begin with autobiographical stories first then his other stories alphabetically. All correspondence is organized choronologically within the subject. Final documents include correspondence and translations from other Turkish writers.
