Historical Note

The Des Chutes Rim Rock Power Company, referred to in newspapers as Deschutes Rimrock Power Company or Deschutes Rim Rock Power Company, was founded in September 1911 in Portland, Oregon, with former U.S. Representative Malcolm A. Moody as president, LeRoy Park as treasurer, and E. E. Ferguson as vice president. The company received $9 million from English investors, with which they planned to build two power plants near the mouth of the Deschutes River to irrigate land east of the Deschutes and south of the Columbia River. The company appears to have gone out of business around 1913; the only mentions of it in newspapers after 1911 are in notices listing it among companies that had been delinquent in paying registration fees or taxes.
