Historical Note

The Farm Equipment Division of Marine Iron Works, Inc. of Tacoma, Washington, manufactured Mighty Man Garden Tractors in the 1940s and 1950s. The small, two-wheeled tractors had two- and three-horsepower engines and handle bars for pushing, and could be fitted with various models of front- and back-end attachments such as snowplows, disc tillers, cultivators, mowers, and seats for riding.

Content Description

The collection consists of three albums (now disassembled) containing black-and-white promotional photographs of small tractors and tractor implements, as well as other equipment and machinery manufactured by Marine Iron Works. Many photographs are studio shots, several of which have been colored. A few images show the tractors in use. Albums also include advertisements in the form of newspaper clippings and flyers, and instructions and packing slips for the tractors.
