Biographical Note

Frank Culbertson came to Spokane Falls in 1885 with his wife, Jessie Glidden Culbertson. Together with his father-in-law, S.S. Glidden, he developed the Tiger Mine at Burke, ID. They sold their mining interests in 1889 and opened the Wonder Store in Spokane Falls. This store, located at Main Avenue and Howard Street, was renamed Culbertson's with Frank as its president. In 1930 he was forced out of the business (he blamed his partners for misinforming him concerning the financial losses incurred by the company).
