Historical Note

The Lindmier and Manning families homesteaded in Eastern Wyoming in the early 20th century. William Clyde Lindmier, Sr. moved to Douglas, Wyoming and started a plumbing business in 1938. His son, William “Bill” Lindmier, Jr., served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He married Irene Manning on June 23, 1948, and they had three children, Robert, Thomas, and Jeffery. In May 1947, Lindmier Jr. began work on the Burlington Route Railroad as a fireman until November of that year. He liked railroading but the job reminded him too much of the Navy. He began working for his father’s business, Douglas Plumbing and Heating Company, where he remained until 1963 when he started Bill’s Plumbing. A railroad enthusiast, Lindmier Jr. documented, recorded, and collected railroad history. William C. Lindmier, Jr, passed away on April 22, 2021, in Douglas, Wyoming.
