Biographical Note
Robert Giertz Yates (1910-2003) was born in Tacoma, WA in 1910, and received an undergraduate degree at the University of Washington and then his Ph.D. at Stanford. He worked his entire career as a geologist for the United State Geological Survey (USGS).
Content Description
The collection consists of a single unpublished USGS report, 21 pages plus one oversized map, written by Robert G. Yates. Yates had done earlier published reports on the geology of northern Stevens County, focusing on lead-zinc deposits; this appears to be a follow-up focused on location and types of limestone deposits.
