Historical Background
Josef Scaylea (1913-2004) was a well-known Seattle photographer. After serving as an army photographer during World War II, Scaylea settled in Seattle and was hired by theSeattle Times, spending the next 35 years photographing Northwest landmarks, events and people. He continued as an active photographer after his retirement, making many of his Pacific Northwest images available on the Internet.
Content Description
Three matted photographs of junked cars and other scrap metal at Sternoff Metals yard in Seattle. The photographs were taken by Scaylea as part of a project to make a calendar for Sternoff Metals in the early 1980s
