Historical Note
Alsade Limited Ranch was a Wyoming Centennial Ranch in Big Piney, Wyoming. Sadie Budd Osterhout established the ranch in 1894 and in 1947 her grandson, Kenneth Guio, took over management of the ranch. She also helped found the Big Piney State Bank and served on the bank’s board. Sadie had her own brand, a quarter circle S and was the business mind behind the ranch’s expansion and financial security. Sadie came to the Wyoming Territory in 1880. The original part of the ranch was claimed under the Homestead Act and the mountain lands were purchased from homesteaders, Fred Beck and Ralph Bugher. The ranch held territorial water rights on part of the home place. Today the owners include Kenneth and Marj Guio, and their children, Cotton, Susan, Candon, and Tagg. The Guio family raised cattle as their main source of income. The Alsade Limited Ranch became part of the Wyoming Centennial Farms and Ranch Program, which honors families who have owned and operated the same farm or ranch for 100 years or more.
