Historical Note
Robert Haylor "Bob" Temple was born on December 13, 1920 in Marysville, Kansas to Eva May Haylor and William Bennett Temple. Virginia Lee "Ginny" Clark was born on March 6, 1921 in Rhinelander, Wisconsin to Charolett Clara Miner and Elmer Daven Clark. The Clark family moved to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. Temple and Clark met while they were both attending the University of Idaho; they married in 1942 and both graduated in 1943. Bob Temple entered military service in 1944, serving in the United States Army Medical Corps during World War II. While Bob Temple served in the Army, Ginny Temple moved to California, where she worked in a factory building planes. After World War II, the Temples settled in Spokane, Washington. In 1965, they moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where Bob Temple worked at KUTV as General Manager and Vice President. Robert Haylor Temple died on October 23, 2003. Virginia Lee Clark Temple died on July 1, 2008.
Content Description
Folder 2 contains black pages from a photograph album. The pages were removed from the album but kept in the same order. Many of the photographs in the album have captions, identifying individuals and providing dates. The images date from 1942 to 1945. The album was likely compiled by Virginia Lee Clark "Ginny" Temple. Folders 1 and 3 contain loose photographs of the Temples from the same time period. Subjects include: fishing, picnics, and other outdoor activities; Bovill School in Bovill, Idaho; Santa Monica and Inglewood, California; United States Army basic training at Camp Barkeley, Texas; babies; dogs; New Yok City (including Brooklyn, Washington Square, and Greenwich Village). The album also includes a page of photographs of General Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower in a parade in New York City in 1945.
