Historical Note

The Utah Farm Bureau Federation (UFBF) was organized in the fall of 1916 by a group of Utah farmers who met in Salt Lake City. D. D. McKay of Huntsville, Utah, became the first president of the state organization and served until 1922. The first convention was held in 1918 at the Utah Agricultural College in Logan, where the first session was dedicated almost entirely to discussing the price farmers should seek for sugar beets. Since then, the organization has developed into the largest general agricultural organization in the state of Utah.

The mission of the Utah Farm Bureau Federation is to improve the net farm income and the quality of life for all Utahns. The Utah Farm Bureau is involved in local, state, national, and international issues that affect its members, and it provides full-time representation at the Utah State Legislature and the U.S. Congress.
