Historical Note
Ray McFarlane was the superintendent of mines for the Cerro Corporation mines located in Cerro de Pasco, Peru. Bette McFarlane was a teacher and the family lived in Cerro de Pasco, Peru for over a decade in the 1960s and 70s, leaving in 1973.
Cerro de Pasco was a city in central Peru, located at the top of the Andean mountains. It was the capital of the Pasco region and an important mining center during the 20th century. The mining significantly influenced the town and its development since the early 1900s.
