Historical Note
The Yakima Valley Traffic and Credit Association Committee on National Apple Week for the year 1927 was formed to plan and organize official activities to promote public awareness and sales of apples grown in the Yakima Valley (WA).
Content Description
This collection consists of a scrapbook (one volume) with extensive documentation of the 1927 National Apple Week activities of the Yakima Valley Traffic and Credit Association Committee on National Apple Week. 1927 was an especially important year for this committee because they created the world's largest apple pie (ten feet in diameter, weighing over 2000 pounds). The pie was baked and served on October 15, 1927, and it gained national and international attention. The scrapbook includes a publicity record, with many newspaper clippings, telegrams, and other correspondence, along with a substantial and detailed narrative text. The volume includes a table of contents and a table of illustrations and exhibits.
