Historical Note

Karin Hodgin Jones grew up in Indiana. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sclupture from the University of Utah in 2003 and her Master of Fine Arts degree in studio art from the University of Illinois, Urbaba-Champaign. In 2010 she taught classes in the ArtReach Program at the Corcoran Gallery and School of Art in Washington, D.C. Specializing in three dimensional art, Jones has exhibited works all over the United States.

Detailed Description of the Collection

  • Description: Frameless animation examples and multimedia exhibit pieces

    "Resolution Revolution Mark II" (2001 January): Video footage of a collaborative installation of a six hour video projected onto the side of an object which resembles a Ferris wheel. Images shown were of a decaying mouse (as the remains decay) and of trees.

    "CMYKman" (2002 October): A digital/analogue comparison study of Technicolor film processing. Subject is a man standing near Parliament and Big Ben in London. Subject is wearing a suit, hat, and coat, and carrying a briefcase. Frameless animation.

    "Image Other Side" (2002 December): Visual degradation study from degraded surface image. Photo study of old photos of primarily women and children in rural areas. Frameless animation.

    "Installation 1" (2003 March): Reproduction of the Technicolor process through projected light bending. Image shown (of a man's bare chest) was projected in a series of different colors onto a series of silk-like screens blown by a fan.

    "Amalgam Base 10" (2003 November): An analogue audio history study in four languages using voice/sound patterning as the visual display. Frameless animation.
