Historical Note
Lucy Bender was a resident of San Antonio, Texas at the time of her death in 1962. Truth Alcorn Young was the daughter of Lucy and Walter Lloyd Bender. She was a resident first of Pharr, Texas with her first husband and then of Encampment, Wyoming. It was Encampment where Truth returned in the 1970s to live in the Bender family home.

Collection contains 37 maps of individual Civil War battlefields, maps of the southern states, and other miscellaneous maps; diaries; letters and a letter press; pamphlets; books; magazines; manuscripts; photographs; military records; genealogy notes and stories; newspapers; ledgers; scrapbooks; and miscellaneous documents.
