Historical Note

Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church was organized as a small congregation of 26 members on June 7, 1907. It was the outgrowth of a Sunday school established a year earlier. (NOTE: From the stewardship promotional material "We are the Family.") The lot and building were turned over to the congregation free of encumbrances.

By 1922 the old building became too small so a new and larger edifice was erected at a cost of $22,000. This sanctuary, existing on a lot purchased in 1940, was remodeled in 1957 at a total cost of $55,000. It exists at the present time (2004). In the 1950s the congregation had grown to almost 600 members.
