What would later become Washington State University was created by the state congress on March 28, 1890, and located in Pullman the following year. Opening for instruction on January 13, 1892, it became Washington State College in 1905, and then Washington State University in 1959.

Arrangement

This is an unprocessed collection. Any arrangement reflects either a pre-existing order from the records' creators or previous custodians, or preliminary sorting performed by staff.

The photographs appear to be in three sets, based on size and content. Eight 4.5"x2.5" images show campus in winter, and are dated 1927-1929, with some stamped as Graves Studio. Three undated 8"x5" images are from a graduation; one is stamped as Hutchison Studio. Fifteen undated 3.5"x2.5" images are of campus buildings (one does not appear to be WSC).

Acquisition Information

Donated by Alden Couch, a member of the class of 1929, to the WSU Alumni Centre on Nov. 19, 2003, and transferred to MASC by Sharon Morgan not long thereafter.

Future Additions

More materials were expected, but did not follow.

Processing Note

Being primarily generic campus buildings images, this should probably be broken up and dropped into PC 3.
