Biographical Note
After a career as a history teacher, Jerry Sussman has volunteered through Jewish Family Service as an ESL instructor for Russian Jewish immigrants.
Content Description
Contains booklet, "Our Lives Remembered: Stories from the Soviet Past by Recent Immigrants to the United States" (1994) and "Russia Lost, Russia Found: Russian Immigrants recall their lives in the old USSR" (2012). Both are compilations of stories about life in the Soviet Union by students in Sussman's ESL classes. Contributing authors in the first volume include Meyer Goykhman, Naum Slutsky, Nikolay Tkatch, Khael Serebrokamen, Samuel Kit, Fania Furmanova, Liya Estrova, Anna Vinokurov, Isaak Spivak, Faina Povzner, Joseph Vinokurov, Bela Pogrebitsky, Sarra Goldiner, Gersh Kotlyar, Olga Dand Jerry Sussman. In the second volume, authors are Olga Dvorkind, Galina Surovtseva, Yosif Grobman, Leya Rabinovich, Lila Sorskai, Boris Leyfman, Fania Furmanova, Geda Shapiro, Gersh Kotlyar, Meyer Goykhman, Semyon Fuchs, Olga Savenkova, and Petr Bak.
